The 22nd Annual CAMP TIGER took place June 5-9, 2023!
Thank you for supporting Camp Tiger! Your gift makes a difference!
Camp Tiger is the annual community service project of first-year medical students at LSU Health Shreveport School of Medicine. Camp Tiger has been a part of the lives of children in the Shreveport-Bossier community for the past 20 years. It is a week-long day camp for children ages 5-18 with physical and cognitive challenges, such as cystic fibrosis, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism, and more. Most importantly, since its inception in 2000, no child has ever paid to attend Camp Tiger because of generous supporters like you.
While first-year medical students volunteer to staff the camp, it is the fundraising efforts for which your help is needed. Expenses such as specialized transportation and adapted-activities contribute greatly to the $600 needed to fund one child’s week of camp. Your contributions give these children the opportunity to participate in activities that are not normally available to them, including a hip hop dance class, bowling, skating, and field trips to Sci-Port Discovery Center, Gator and Friends, area parks, and Barksdale Air Force Base.
We have conducted many successful fundraising events in past years, including our annual Clays for Camp Tiger, a Chili Cook-Off, Camp Tiger In Concert, a Tennis Mixer, and merchandise fundraisers, but we still need to raise more funds to fund Camp Tiger 2023 fully. We appreciate any support that you are willing to provide. Your tax-deductible donation will ensure that Camp Tiger is a continued success and will also allow more children the opportunity to participate in this year’s camp.
