What is the purpose of the Development Support Fee?

The LSU Health Sciences Foundation works everyday to help the LSU Health Sciences Center achieve its vision of excellence. The support fee is a revenue source used to cover the expenses associated with this work.

What are the LSU Health Sciences Foundation’s current sources of revenue?

The LSU Health Sciences Foundation’s operations are not financially supported by the LSU Health Sciences Center, LSU, or the State of Louisiana. All Foundation operating expenses are paid through the development support fee and the investment management fee charged on endowed funds.

What are the LSU Health Sciences Foundation’s “overhead” costs?

In return for the support fee, the Foundation is able to inspire donors to invest in the LSU Health Sciences Center and to properly steward those contributions. This includes development activities such as fundraising efforts, identifying giving opportunities, gift stewardship, and donor relations and communication. Financially, we provide accounting, auditing, disbursement of funds, gift processing, asset investment, and IRS compliance.
