Call for Proposals:

Philanthropic Grant Writing Support for Research

Window Open 1/1/2025 through 1/31/2025

Philanthropic grants can help bridge the gap between ideation and extramural funding by providing funding for equipment, data collection, salaries, etc.

The LSU Health Foundation has contracted with One Degree Impact, Inc. to provide philanthropic grant writing assistance to the LSU Health Office of Research. We have designed a process to allocate this service fairly and equitably to as many basic, translational, or clinical research projects as possible.

Research projects will be selected by a subcommittee of the Research Advisory Council from a pool of competitive applications. The selected projects and their faculty will then work with One Degree Impact for six months to identify and pursue grant opportunities. After six months, two new projects will be selected and the process will begin again.

The One Degree Impact Process

Week 1:

  • Organize all research information and spend the week learning about the lab and program. Schedule initial calls between researchers and grant writers.

Week 2:

  • Strategize research direction for One Degree. Make sure everyone is on the same page.
  • Start preliminary research in potential funders with promising RFPs.

Week 3 and Week 4:

  • Funder finding research.

Week 5

  • Review research, strategize next steps, make grant calendar.

Weeks 6-8

  • Focus on funder cultivation. Pull in LSU Health Foundation team to assist in funder cultivation if necessary.
  • Grant Writing.
  • One Degree will collaborate closely with LSU Health Faculty in the Grant Writing process.
